Rockets already dealing with injuries to Asik, frontcourt

That didn’t take long. After only two days of practices, the are already banged up down low, though at least is healthy so far.

After two days and three practices, the Rockets are beginning to run out of centers. Dwight Howard remains the center of attention, but his predecessor as the Rockets’ starter, , left the floor late in Sunday’s practice with a strained calf muscle. He is listed as day-to-day.

Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League title chasers will have to play nine matches between December 4 and January 2. The FIFA Club World Cup semi-fiubling. That doesn’t go away easy, and the Rockets wanted to play Asik and Howard together some, which would mean they need more centers to spell the duo.

Nazr Mohammed apologizes for ejection after shoving LeBron James

C took to Twitter on Friday night to apologize after he was ejected from Chicago’s 104-94 loss to Miami at the United Center for shoving F/G/C/MVP as seen in the video above.

Sorry for my overreaction & being ejected. I blacked out & just reacted after I was pushed down. I’m happy it only resulted w/ a push

— Nazr Mohammed (@NazrMohammed)

For the kids who were watching… That not the way to react on the basketball court.

— Nazr Mohammed (@NazrMohammed)

Hopefully if I’m in the same situation again I will control my emotions but u never know what ur instincts will do.

— Nazr Mohammed (@NazrMohammed)

The 35-year-old Mohammed played 63 games for the Bulls this season and was huge in their first-round upset of the Nets.

The entire play as seen above was weird. If you watch, you’ll notice three Bulls are back in transition. Any one of them can take a charge on James (easier said than done, I admit, but that’s their job). There’s just no reason to give a foul there, let alone that kind of foul.

When Mohammed interrupts his movement and starts to wrap uon Town star is being linked with a move to a top side after he impressed in League One.Villa have a serious interest in signing him this summer, per Birmingham Live.Justin was selected in the League One Team of the Year, while being up for the EFL Yp, James has two options. He can assume the official will call the whistle, or he can try to shrug off the contact to keep going. He chose to shrug off the contact, as would any sane human being. So when Nazr goes down, I wouldn’t classify it as throwing him down. I’d say James shrugged a defender like he’s a running back.

But Mohammed can’t know that. He knows he was upright, then went down.Club World Cup.Most Premier League sides already have more than enough games during the hectic holiday period. The Reds play Monterrey in the FIFA Club World Cup semi finals on Wednesday, while a victory would mean one more game to decide the winner o So when he gets back up, he’s, of course, upset. Mohammed told reporters after the game that he didn’t feel it warranted an ejection. But if you push ao life at Watford. Now in England after completing his move from Fluminense, Pedro is sticking close to Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes as he prepares to be registered with the Hornets on January 1.“I feel motivated,” he said. “I’ve always wannybody with two hands with that much force, flop or no flop, you’re getting tossed. That isn’t rocket science.

As for the question of a flop, well, Tom Thibodeau had his own thoughts on that.

Blazers G Elliot Williams (Achilles) undergoes season-ending surgery

It’s another cruel blow for guard , who just underwent his third season-ending surgery before his third season even started.

The Blazers announced Friday that Williams, a reserve guard, underwent successful surgery on a ruptured left Achilles tendon. The surgery will end his 2012-13 season more than a month before the Blazers play their regular season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Halloween.

Williams suffered the injury while participating in a “voluntary offseason workout” at the team’s practice facility on Tuesday.

Williams, 23, was unable to play during 2010-11, his rookie season, after undergoing surgery on both his knees. He also missed significant time in 2011-12 after undergoing left shoulder surgery following an injury sustained during practice.

“A year ago, at this time, I couldn’t even walk,” Williams , reflecting on his knee surgeries. “I was in the bed. It was tough. I had surgery on both my knees. I worked hard to get back on the court. It’s a blessing.”

On Monday, Blazers coach Terry Stotts  that a vast majority of his young team was in town more than three weekdefender Samuel Umtiti was at Emirates stadium last night. The France World Cup winner took in Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat of Manchester United on New Year’s Day.With the LaLiga in winter recess, Umtiti was free to visit London and revealed to fans on socials before the start of training camp thanks to All-Star forward , who decided to organize the workouts.

“With so he wasn’t angry after Liverpool blew a three-goal lead against RB Salzburg.Goals from Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a comfortable lead after 36 minutes.Hwang Hee-Chee grabbed one back from the visitors on 39 minutes, anmany new players, they’re getting to know each other, they are lifting weights, they are doing conditioning drills and then they are playing,” Stotts said. “As much as we can do with them, within a group, is limited. But it’s all been very positive.”

Portland, in the midst of a full-scale rebuilding effort, figured to rely heavily on Williams this season. was the surefire starter but Williams, a smooth left-handed scoring guard, seemed the best candidate for reserve minutes. In his absence, 2012 second-round pick and 2011 first-round pick will pick up the playing time slack.

Williams, a 2010 first-round pick out of Memphis, holds career averages of 3.7 points and 0.8 rebounds in 6.2 minutes per game as WRONG to jump the stands and confront a fan this week.Murphy wrote for the Daily Mail: “I’m not aware of the specifics of what caused Dier to get into his confrontation after the Norwich game but it didn’t look as if his brother was a 12-year-old in just 24 career appearances. He’s still on his rookie scale contract, a deal that will pay him $1.4 million in 2012-13. The Blazers hold a team option for 2013-14.

Steve Nash will ‘definitely consider’ signing with New York Knicks

will “definitely consider” signing with the . (Getty Images)

After years of no-comments, expressions of happiness in Phoenix and a general lack of interest in changing zip codes, free agent point guard Steve Nash is finally on the open market and able to disc worried about them after their 2-2 draw at Manchester City.City and Liverpool are title favourites this season. But Winks told the London Evening Standard: “I think they [City and Liverpool] should worry about us. “We’ve shown in the last few years wuss potential landing spots without offending or annoying anyone.

And he’s wasting no time. With free agency to open in a matter of weeks, Nash said this week that the New York Knicks — a team linked to Nash in trade rumors for more than two years — are on his list, .

“The Knicks are a great franchise and I live in New York City (each summer), so I’d definitely consider them if they were interested,” the Phoenix Suns’ mainstay said at a promotional appearance in Manhattan.

“I want to wait and see what’s actually on the table,” he said. “I’m open and excited. I’m looking at every possibility right now. It sounds like there are a number of teams that are interested.”

Unless they blow things up with a dramatic trade or two, the Knicks, with big-dollar contracts already handed out to , and , will be over the salary cap and therefore won’t have much money to toss at Nash Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa doesn’t expect Iker Casillas to return next season. The Real Madrid legend is recovering from a heart attack suffered at Porto training a fortnight ago.The ex-Real Madrid player signed for Porto in 2015, and has played 156 g.

that Nash landing with the Knicks isn’t all that likely.

One confidant of Steve Nash do by South America’s champions. 2019 has been some year for Allan Rodrigues de Souza – the stillLiverpool-owned midfielder of Fluminense.First the update. Having established himself not only as a first-choice for Flu, but now among the most coveted youbts the star point guard will truly give the Knicks any consideration even if they have their $5 millon mid-level exception, despite his remarks at a promotional appearance with Walt Frazier yesterday.

The confidant said Nash doesn’t really believe the Knicks are close enough to a title to take less money and didn’t like how former coach Mike D’Antoni, his buddy from Phoenix, was treated. Nash will get offers for more than $5 million, especially from Phoenix.

Good luck playing the mind-reading game with Nash, one of the ‘s most famous free thinkers. At 38, the time is now if he wants to land on a true contender and push for a title. But, like any free agent, there’s a matter of balancing his desire for playing time, money, and location, too.

Should they acquire Nash, the Knicks might move into the top four teams in the Eastern Conference, but they would certainly remain a major cut below the likes of the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls. Unless something(s) absolutely insane happens this summer, signing with the Knicks wouldn’t mean meaningful postseason success for Nash. The fact that New York can’t bowl him over with a big-dollar offer doesn’t help matters. One would think that Nash can do better than a desireable, big-market location, an above-average roster of teammates and a below-market salary offer.

Nash has made more than $119 million in salary during his 16-year NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks and Suns. A best case scenario — from an NBA fan’s perspective — is that he signs on for small potatoes with one of the league’s elite teams (the Heat, Bulls, Thunder, Mavericks, Lakers or Spurs). He deserves another title shot, and the NBA world deserves seeing him on the postseason stage, somewhere he hasn’t been since 2010. Unfortunately, dreams like that rarely come true in the modern NBA. When they do, as with Karl Malone to the Lakers, it’s usually a few years too late to be intriguing.

Agent: Suns don’t intend to trade Gortat despite drafting Alex Len

From the “I’ll believe it when I see it” category, the agent for Suns C told that the Suns informed him they have no intention of trading his client despite taking Maryland center Alex Len with the fifth pick in Thursday’s draft.

One day after the drafted Alex Len with the fifth pick in the NBA draft, Marcin Gortat was assured by the organization that it has no plan to trade him – for now – and might want to make him part of the future, his agent Guy Zucker told RealGM.

After the draft, Gortat had understoid attention to the club’s academy talent.Klopp has now spent four years at Anfield and Alexander-Arnold admits his interest in promoting young players was immediately obvious. “Within his first few weeks he was down at the academy watching the youngod the Suns’s according to Record, which reports United are offering £57m for the Portugal international ahead of the January market.Sporting are need of a quick sale to balance books and are now prepared to cash in on Fernandes. The midfielder, 25, has played 1 clear transition into retooling the roster, leading to belief a trade would be beneficial to both sides. Yet, Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said Thursday that Gortat would fill a mentoring role for Len.

“It’s clear they are in a rebuild and they drafted a center, so [a trade] would make sense, but for now they want to hold onto him,” Zucker said Friday afternoon. “As with everything in the league, it should be stated: As of today.”

via .

Gortat was involved in trade discussions nearly all of last year, and was constantly unhappy with his role there. However, the Suns hired a new GM in Ryan McDonough from Boston, and a new coach in Jeff Hornacek. So their position could have totally flipped when it comes to Gortat and they really could view him as a vital contributor.

Now, Gortat’s productivity plummeted last season without point guard , as he tallied his lowest points and rebounds per 36 minutes since his rookie season, and the lowest rebound percentage and PER of his career. So his value is a little murky at this point. But Len is so raw, it’s probably a good idea to have someone around to help him develop. Is Gortat going to want to mentor the kid who’s going to take his job, though? Gortat’s 29 and will be a free agent after next season. He’s likely looking for the last big payday. How he’ll want to help Len succeed is a big question mark.

But for right now, at least, signs poiolves. The wing-back is yet to score this campaign, so he wants to change that soon, and do better than his solitary strike in 2018/19.“Definitely. If I can help the team, giving assists, like I’m doing, or score, like I want to do, it’s better for nt to Gortat staying a Sun for the forseeable future.

Spurs-Warriors Game 5: Harrison Barnes reaching his potential

F was pretty bad in the win he got too much credit for, and terrific in the loss that no one will remember.

In the Warriors’ Game 4 win, Barnes scored 26 points on 9 of 26 shooting. In the Warriors’ Game 5 loss, the rookie scored 25 points on 10 of 18 shooting. Game 4, Synergy Sports recorded him as having a .79 points per possession mark. In Game 5, a 1.19 mark.

See the difference? One point of difference, a world of efficiency difference.

But the story in Game 4 was that Barnes’ aggressiveness was what was needed, and in Game 5, it was that he was ineffectual even in scoring in volirector of football operations.Crocker previously worked for the club as their academy manager back in 2006 and spent seven years in the job. He won’t take up the new role until early 2020.Crocker left the St Mary’s outfit to go and work for The FA aume. In Game 4, the storyline says that Barnes was the leader in an ugly game for both sides and that those points were a big part of why the Warriors won. In Game 5, his contributions were meaningless in a runaway loss.

Barnes was +13 in Game 4, -19 in Game 5.

So what’s the truth?

The truth is that the results color our perception. Had the made a few shots in Game 4, and we mean just a few, then Barnes was an over-aggressive rookie who played beyond his limits. If the Warriors’ defense had more energy and strength in Game 5, Barnes is the hero. But we retroactively fill in our jugments of games based on the result a lot of times, especially when the player is a rookie we have no expectations of.

In Game 4, the Spurs were encouraging Barnesed him. With eight consecutive wins, the Reds have an eight-point lead over reigning champions Manchester City. “I did not expect it,” Van Dijk told NOS of the successful start of Liverpool’s season. “I also did not expect that we would win eight game to create off the dribble. It’s not his strength yet, and he can get too wild and untempered with his movements. If the Spurs have to deal with Barnes posting up a smaller defender or a spot-up three or doing anything, which do you think they live with? Taking what a defense like the Spurs’ gives you is not a good look most times.

Barnes played outside of his game in Game 4. Not a lot. He’s going to get there. He’s going to be the player you can give the ball to and watch create, even when the defense is primed against him. That trajectory is clear. But he’s not there yet. 26 shots is too many for Barnes, no matter what the defense is giving him. Spreading the ball, moving the offense, finding the open shooters, that’s what the Warriors do well. They’re too good of an offense to require that kind of inefficient production from Barnes.

I mean, they’re not the .

Game 5, however? This was the wondrous Harrison Barnes. Open corner jumpers. Driving to the rim when the defense was caught in a bad rotation. Pulling up in space in transition. Posting against smaller defenders. Barnes played within his game, and when he has done that this postseason, he’s been phenomenal.

Ironically, the Warriors have been looking for a veteran small forward for a full year. They tried to get one at the draft last year, offering the pick that became Barnes. They tried throughout the season to kick the tires on . They have wanted a veteran wing to replace Barnes. Barnes was put in this position by default. But he has excelled. He was good this season. He’s been great in the playoffs.

Some of what the Warriors have done with their postseason run has been… exceptional. isn’t going to shoot like this for any long stretch. is playing the singularly best basketball of any stretch of his career. Stephen Curry is redefining what a hot streak is. seems healthy.

But Barnes’ progression seems like the most sustainable development of all. This was his potential as a freshman at North Carolina. A sophomore season brought concerns that the was more than . But Barnes has stepped up and been granted the gift of playing in the small lier Frank Lampard is dead against the expansion of the Champions League.Lampard – who lifted the trophy in 2012 – does not think that more matches will fit into the calendar.A proposed reform of the Europe’s elite competition – led by Juventus chairmaneup that forces adjustments by the other team that play to his strengths. And he’s taken full advantage.

So no, Barnes did not have the good Game 4 people pretended he did. And he did have an exceptional Game 5 that will be forgotten in the loss. But the bigger trend is what Barnes is willing to do and how he’s discovering what his game is in the , on the biggest stage.

And that’s an experience with a value you can’t put a number on.
